PIRA, Inc. together with the MCIS Project Management Team and NTT Data Phils., Inc. (NDPI) conducted two (2) days orientation/training on MCIS version 3 last May 23 and 24, 2018 held at AIM Conference Center Manila, Security Case Room, Trasierra St., Legaspi Village, Makati City.
The Motorcar Claims Information System (MCIS v.1 & 2) was initiated by the Association of Insurance Claimsmen, Inc. (AICI) and Insurance Surety Association of the Philippines (ISAP) in 1996. The system allows participating companies to share motor claims data for purposes of analysis and detection of potential fraudulent claims.
The MCIS v.3, an enhancement of the MCIS v.1 & 2, a project of PIRA, Inc. was developed by NDPI in a web-based, online real-time & multi-user system to further capture data on motor claims to detect and safeguard member companies against fictitious/fraudulent claims settlement by two or more companies for a particular vehicle. The system will further gather information for the industry’s statistics on total losses, carnapped vehicles, substantial OD claim and other third-party claims for rating and pricing purposes that the Motor Committee is undertaking.
The MCIS v.3 also enhances the COCAF system by interface link with the authentication process (LTO Registration) to the motor claims (MCIS) data. The linking will allow early detection by COCAF user if the vehicles have been reported as either total loss unit or carnapped/stolen, or has substantial OD claim at the point of COC registration Authentication.
The MCIS v.3 system has undergone the User Acceptance Test (UAT) exercises as well as the COCAF-MCIS Integration test.
